We are Evangelical Churches. But what does Evangelical mean? The word was first coined by William Tyndale, the 16th Century translator of the English Bible. He said "we are gospel men, evangelicals". Tyndale was an expert in ancient Greek, the original language of the New Testament. He used the English word "gospel" to translate the Greek "evangel", meaning "good news".
An Evangelical Church is one that proclaims "Good News". The Good News is that God has sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for sinners and be raised from the dead for our salvation. We need some good news, don't we? Most newspapers are full of tales of corruption, crimes and catastrophe. Yes, we are sinners and we live in a world that is full of sadness. But the Bible gives us hope. Here is a message of God's love, forgiveness and new life.
The apostle Paul once wrote: "I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe." (Romans 1:16.)
Are you living in our locality? Why not come along to one of the services? We have Good News for you.
